Growing Calendar for Tomato Seeds - Montello F1 Hybrid (Bush)
Delivery: 5-7 Working Days
This vigorous variety is so prolific; producing handfuls of tasty fruit that are so easy to harvest through mid- to late summer.
Montello’s versatility knows no bounds- both in the garden and in the kitchen! Grow in containers, baskets or grow-bags indoors or out and this neat bush variety gets to 90cm in length producing masses of trusses; you don’t even need to pinch out side-shoots.
Your crop of tomatoes are delicious enough to eat straight from the plant or added to salads; they also reduce well when added to the pan, making excellent rich Bolognese sauces and soups.
SOW INDOORS - February-May, individually in clean 9cm pots or module trays of firm pre-watered compost, cover with 1cm of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth 18-21''c and keep moist at all times.
GROW ON - At 15''c until late May. When established, after the risk of frost has passed, plant into garden soil 60cm apart or into large patio pots 30cm apart or in a grow bag in a full sun location and feed regularly with liquid fertiliser once fruits start to swell.
TIP - Water well and feed regularly with liquid fertiliser once fruits start to swell.
Just a bit concerned seeds are so small but as I haven't grown tomatoes from seed before I may be pleasantly surprised.
Indoors or out in a sunny spot they grow and crop very well and taste so good.
Seeds were good, but the sowing instructions were completely wrong. When I pointed it out they didn't believe me till I sent a photo of what it said on the packet, at which point they apologised. Didn't cause me a problem, but could ruin things for a beginner.
Tomatoes taste just lovely picked fresh from the vine, tomatoes ripened by the sun have a unique flavour and sweetness making them great to add to salad, snack boxes or reduced to make delicious sauces.
