This vigorous variety is so prolific; producing handfuls of tasty fruit that are so easy to harvest through mid- to late summer.

Montello’s versatility knows no bounds- both in the garden and in the kitchen! Grow in containers, baskets or grow-bags indoors or out and this neat bush variety gets to 90cm in length producing masses of trusses; you don’t even need to pinch out side-shoots.

Your crop of tomatoes are delicious enough to eat straight from the plant or added to salads; they also reduce well when added to the pan, making excellent rich Bolognese sauces and soups.

Tomato Seeds - Montello F1 Hybrid (Bush) 1020-2900

SOW INDOORS - February-May, individually in clean 9cm pots or module trays of firm pre-watered compost, cover with 1cm of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth 18-21''c and keep moist at all times. 

GROW ON - At 15''c until late May. When established, after the risk of frost has passed, plant into garden soil 60cm apart or into large patio pots 30cm apart or in a grow bag in a full sun location and feed regularly with liquid fertiliser once fruits start to swell.

 

TIP - Water well and feed regularly with liquid fertiliser once fruits start to swell.

I grew this variety last year for the first time. Planted outdoors it was the most productive of any tomato variety I've ever grown. I filled my freezer with enough tomatoes to keep us in pasta sauces all year. I will give each plant more space this year to accommodate their extensive vigour.
