Sweetcorn Alliance F1 Hybrid Seeds

  • Catalogue Code 1020-2747
  • Pack Contents: 40x Sweetcorn Seeds
  • New variety particularly hardy to temperature changes
  • Every cob fills completely with juicy kernels
  • Provides windbreaks for crops like peas and beans nearby

Enjoy trying sweetcorn Alliance on your own plot; every cobs on each plant is packed full of juicy kernels from the base to the tip and your plants are particularly tough to withstand the varying weathers typical in a UK summer.

We recommend that you find a space to form a grid of sweetcorn.  This means the female flowers are more likely to catch the pollen off the male flowers at the top of the plants and give you cobs quicker.

When your plant start to flower at the top of the stem (they look like a fountain of seeds) tap the stems to encourage the pollen to fall and fertilise the female flowers below which form the edible cobs.

How to sow:

Sow indoors or outdoors to suit your vegetable plot and whether you have a greenhouse to grow seedlings on. The good news is that the seeds of sweetcorn are nice and big so easy to handle.

If you have a greenhouse sow seeds indoors from March to May in individual pots 2cm (3/4in) deep filled with moist compost specially formulated to grow on seedlings. Put your pots somewhere with an ambient temperature of 18°C (64°F) until transplanting. Plant out in June.

Sow outdoors in May to August 2cm (3/4in) deep on a moist seed bed 25cm (10in) apart in a grid formation. Water regularly.
