Enjoy the numerous raspberries that appear in big numbers on well-furnished tall bushes from August and into September. Enough sun-ripe berries every year to pluck straight from the bush and pop into your mouth as well as to collect for indoors for the fruit bowl and the tastiest of summer puddings.
Leo is a floricane variety which means it fruits in summer on one-year old stems in big numbers. The individual fruit plucks off the central hull easily on Leo making harvesting quick, easy and stain-free.
We recommend that you plant raspberry Leo where you can give it sufficient support. Space bare-root plants 2m (6 ½ ft) apart if growing multiple plants and dig in a bag of rich compost like John Innes No3 into the existing soil nearby.
In September each year cut down the fruited stems only down to the ground and train the new green leafy stems to grow high and upright to form the fruits next year.
How your plants arrive:
Your raspberry Leo canes are bare-root plants that are a set of dormant stems on a healthy set of roots which are keen to get into the ground and develop over the cold months to support strong stems from the following spring.
We recommend that you position your plant in a cool, and light position (but away from direct sun) and keep the soil well-watered but not waterlogged. Aim to plant within 10 days from delivery.
