Grow the home-grower's favourite legume- pea Early Onward. This wrinkle-seeded variety with dark green pods packed to bursting has the most vigorous of growth.
Heavy-cropping Early Onward won't disappoint for flavoursome, fresh fat peas. Sow through spring and summer, little and often (successional sowing) and expect harvests from as early as May to as late as autumn, given a fair summer. The earliest peas will be ready for picking from 12 weeks after sowing.
With a convenient and comfortable maximum height of 60cm (24in), Early Onward is a sturdy variety that requires little support for easy-care.
For gluts Early Onward freezes well for supplies through late autumn and into winter too.
We recommend you use shoots in the kitchen too for a tasty tangy addition to leafy salads.
germinating well in raised bed and already showing above ground. less than 10 days without cover.
I am disappointed with the germination rate achieved with the packet of Early Onward Pea seeds that I bought this year. I have bought this variety from you for a number of years and have always achieved close to 100% germination. This year I have only achieved about 75% germination using the same method as I always do.
They're up and growing, yet to see yield and taste, but looking good.

No fresh vegetables in the fridge and only a bag of peas lurking in the freezer? No worries, this takes minutes to prepare and is equally successful with garden peas and fresh mint may replaced by pre-frozen - but please don't use dried.
