Growing Calendar for Monarda Knight Rose - Plants
Delivery: Mid April to Late May
Bee balms give your flower beds colour and drama and bring in the bees. Reaching 60cm (24in) in height this variety is directly on the flight path of many insects. With other tall summer-flowering pink perennials like phlox, lupins and shrubs like roses you can create an impressive outdoor space with ease.
Attracting bees, butterflies and hoverflies you bring your garden to life with this lovely variety, Monarda Knight Rose.
Plant three young plants to a container with a 12in (30cm) diameter for creating maximum colour and impact to your displays. Plant up several pots of three plants to increase the impact. Pots dotted around the patio will really impress garden guests too – and for such little effort.
Grow in pots with compost suitable for perennial flowers to ensure the plants have the best soil to grow and thrive in. If you grow them in flower beds mix some compost in with the existing soil to give your flowers the best soil to grow in. If you grow in flowerbeds space plants around 8in (20cm) apart. An 1m by 30cm area (3 ½ ft by 12in) will happily accommodate around five plants.
Get some sharp secateurs and cut some of the flowers for vases or bouquets bringing a bit of colour to the home.
