Growing Calendar for Meconopsis Alba - Plants x3
Delivery: Early March to Late July
One of the most reliable selections of this variety –featured many times at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Himalayan poppy Meconopsis Alba is a coveted perennial poppy that shows off white flowers of 10cm (4in) in diameter and contrasting yellow flower parts in the centre. Perfect for shady sites with moist but not waterlogged soils.
From the Himalayas, Alba withstands the British climate. Fit for flower borders in gardens up and down the country this is the variety to turn heads. This delightful perennial flower returns year after year – a magnet to pollinating bees. Great news as these bees stick around pollinating nearby fruiting vegetables for optimum harvests.
Containers dotted around the patio with Meconopsis Alba will enhance your garden – and for such little effort it’s worth it. We would suggest you plant three young plants to a container with a 12in (30cm) diameter for creating maximum colour and impact in your garden.
If you grow in flowerbeds space plants around 20cm (8in) apart. An area of one square metre (square yard) will fit around nine young plants.
