Add lupins to your garden, a well-performing and attractive perennial, coming back each summer and giving you lovely flower spikes revealing pure-white flowers. The leaves complement the flowers well; opening out into open palms. Felty in texture they catch dew drops and raindrops which look like little jewels when they catch the light.

This lupin variety looks lovely planted in the middle of a container as a centrepiece. Either plant three young specimens in one 30cm (12in) diameter container or plant one in the centre of a container and surround it by complementing bedding like white lobelia or white petunias.

As your lupin plants come into flower enjoy the attention they bring from our much-loved British insects like honey-bees.

Useful Tip:

Get some sharp secateurs and cut some of the flowers for vases or bouquets bringing a bit of colour to the home. Be sure to include leaves as well as they are equally ornamental.

  • Growing PerennialsGrowing Perennials

Perennial plants are the mainstay of the flower garden; many will flower all summer, becoming dormant in autumn to reappear in spring. Perennials tend to be non-fussy plants and are easy to look after - they just need the old stems cutting back in late autumn, which helps to promote new stems and vigorous growth the following spring, getting bigger and better every year!
