Choose Leek Neptune for home-grown long shanks, half the shaft is a white bases, topped with half blue-green leaves.

Keeping you going through the winter when other home-grown crops are lean Neptune is a crop to depend on as part of your yearly supplies.

Neptune is very hardy to UK weather conditions, good news for home growers up and down the country at the mercy of their own microclimate. 

Resistant to the common disease rust Neptune is an improved variety and one we would recommend to gardeners new to growing leeks. 

If you want to harvesting leeks from as early as autumn we recommend you sow leeks in modules indoors from January.

Leek Seeds - Neptune 1020-2567

Good yield of long tasty leeks

Sow Indoors: January-February under glass.

Sow Outdoors: March-April thinly into pre watered soil ½in (1cm) deep in rows 6in (15cm) apart in seed bed. Keep soil moist at all times.

Plant Out: April transplant when 8in (20cm) high into holes 6in (15cm) deep fill with water. Only when plants are well establised start blanching by earthing up.

Harvest: November-February

Liquid feed during summer.

I've managed to get a good number of these to germinate, despite my over watering. The seedlings are very delicate (never grown leeks before) so definitely best to thin down to one seedling per section if you're going to need to move them.
