Growing Calendar for Hydrangea petiolaris Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Late October
Hydrangea petiolaris is a climbing variety of Hydrangea that’s perfect for more unwelcoming aspects of your garden such as a cold and shady wall. It produces beautiful white flowers which are perfectly complemented by the dark green heart-shaped leaves that turn a good colour during autumn.
Although reaching an eventual height of 15m, it is a very slow growing climber and responds well to pruning, so you can keep it at a respectable height without it out growing its welcome. Overall, Hydrangea petiolaris is an outstanding specimen wall shrub which will catch the eye and inspire awe.
Shrubs offer visual interest all year round – whether in full leaf, full bloom or with bare stems set against the winter sky.
If you want to add height to your garden and increase the vertical interest consider planting a tree in your garden. There are trees particularly suited for gardens which don’t grow out of proportion to your property or develop too thick a canopy that blocks out sunlight.
