Growing Calendar for Hydrangea paniculata Confetti - 9cm Potted Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Early September
Enjoy the long flower heads of white flowers that make an impressive display every summer on your plot. Hydrangea paniculata Confetti gives you upright stems showcasing long conical flower heads. These flowers look great and are an effective magnet to useful bees and butterflies in your garden, bringing your garden to life and getting insects in the vicinity to fertilise flowers of fruiting vegetables.
The flowers are super-long, sometimes reaching 30cm (12in) in length; they look great in your garden so make an impact both outdoors and in.
The leaves give an attractive autumnal display before your plants cast off the leaves for the winter, revealing the stems. The flower heads turn to seed and look attractive left on the plant through the winter, especially when frosted.
For even longer flower heads prune half to two-thirds of the stems to healthy buds low down the plant in spring. Use a sharp pair of secateurs to make clean cuts. Pruning also keep your plant well-ventilated which wards off air-borne diseases like mildews.
