Growing Calendar for Hyacinth Blue Jacket - Hyacinth Bulbs
Delivery: Late September to Late November
Just six bulbs of hyacinth Blue Jacket fills a garden with scent in early spring and going into summer. The flower heads are tall and full of flower for an uplifting display and fit well in a vegetable garden planted intermittently between crops for colour and bringing in important pollinators.
Dotted beneath a tree they enjoy the dappled shade in spring and they pair up beautifully with daffodils and narcissi for that yellow/blue colour contrast. Plant up hyacinth Blue Jacket in containers if you just have a patio or balcony – they are equally happy growing like this.
Water crocuses as they come into flower only if the soil is dry. If it’s been a rainy winter the soil should be wet enough and you can leave hyacinth Blue Jacket to it to flower happily.
If growing in containers we recommend you plant 12 bulbs for every 20cm (8in) diameter pot and plant in a free-draining bulb compost where the bulbs overwinter before erupting into flower in late winter.
*Wear gloves when handling bulbs as they can be irritable to the skin.
