- Protect your top fruit
- Suitable for organic gardeners
- Effective and easy to store
Secure your crops of apples, pears and plums by keeping garden pests away like moths that produce maggoty fruit and make a mockery of your hard work, raising and tending your fruit trees.
Winter moths lay their eggs over winter by climbing up tree trunks to lay eggs. The eggs then hatch and contribute to maggoty fruit. With this adhesive sticky band you stop the wingless moths from laying eggs around the leaf and flower area, saving your fruit year after year.
Pesticide free this form of trapping is perfect for the organic grower and gardener. Green in colour the band is out of the colour range of beneficial insects so pollinating bees and other insects like lacewings and hoverflies are unaffected.
We suggest you apply in early autumn and remove in spring when the female moths are no longer laying eggs. Cut off a piece the size you require and apply the band right around the circumference of your tree at 50-80cm (20-32in) above ground level. If you are staking your tree be sure to apply a strip of band to your stake too if the stake meets the tree above the trees band.
The band tape is very sticky so wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards thoroughly.
