Planting your Pond Plants
Where to grow:
To get the best results, each Pond Plant should be planted in the most appropriate position for that particular variety. These range from boggy soil at the edge of the pond through to floating freely on the water’s surface.
Plant in containers or baskets in aquatic compost.
Fill each basket or pot with aquatic compost. Allow a whole pot or basket per plant to give them room to grow without becoming overcrowded. Firm down the compost with your hands after planting and top up the pot with a good layer or gravel. Set in shallow water on shelves around the pond margins.

Water Lilies benefit from being planted in the deepest part of the pond.
Position a single bare root rhizome in a 2 or 3 litre container or basket, filled ¾ with aquatic compost.
Cover the rhizome over slightly with aquatic compost and a thick layer of heavy gravel.
Carefully submerge the plant onto the edge, but within the water, to start with. After a few weeks once the plant has settled into its pot and is starting to show signs of growth, move it to the deepest part of the pond, ensuring it stays upright. The stems will eventually grow to reach the surface. Plant in full sun.
