Growing Calendar for Gladiolus italicus - Gladioli Bulbs
Delivery: Late September to Late November
Gladiolus italicus bulbs spring to life with small magenta flowers that add bright colour to a spring bulb display and they fit in well with other late-spring flowers. The slender sword-shaped leaves appear before the flower spikes that often carry as many as 20 blooms on each stem. This particular Gladioli bulb are smaller than the showy exhibition type gladioli and their bright but dainty flowers combine well with alliums, irises and tulips. They are excellent flowers for cutting.
We suggest that you plant Gladiolus italicus bulbs amongst the grasses and perennials such as achillea and echinacea - they will not only look fantastic when grown but also produce a natural prairie-style border.
My gardener planted these lovely bulbs out and said he had rarely seen such nice bulbs! That's high praise coming from him.
