Growing Calendar for French Lavender Bandera Pink - Plants
Delivery: Late April to Late May
A perennial stalwart in a sunny garden or allotment beautiful French lavender Bandera Pink brings in lots of bees on nectar-rich plants that put up lots of spires of pink flowers. For more for your money Bandera Pink has fragrant leaves as well as flowers.
Bandera Pink reaches 45cm (18in) and withstands dry conditions well. Even in the most rain-deprived of summers, and growing in the poorest of soil Bandera Pink flowers unimpeded given it gets full sun. Position plants in a row as a low-hedge (to protect vulnerable seedlings) or place in containers as centrepieces surrounded by complementing lobelias.
We suggest you position 5 young plants 40-50cm (16-20in) apart along a 2m (6 ½ ft) long wall-side border or plant one young plant in a 30cm (12in) container.
For maintenance give Bandera Pink a little trim with shears at the end of summer and the main harvest time to keep them neat and cushion-forming. Trim the top 5cm (2in) off the end of stems only so Bandera Pink branches well for extra flowers the following year.
In bloom from as early as May Bandera Pink gives you colour and brings in the insects that help your kitchen garden flourish.
