Fill Gaps with Late Salad

Your salad crop should still be growing strong.

After lifting your Potatoes, there will still be time to make a late sowing of lettuce or mixed leaves while the soil is still warm. You could sow Winter Lettuce, Spring Greens, Carrots and Broad Beans under Fleece or Cloches for an earlier crop next spring.

Oriental Vegetables such as Chinese Cabbage, Mizuna, Mustard and Pak Choi can also be sown and grown under protection now. You should also ensure that you continue to pick any Marrows, Pumpkins and Squashes that you are planning to store in order to allow them to dry off on a warm, dry day before storing them in a cool, dry place.
