Growing Calendar for Erysimum Paintbox - Perennial Plants
Delivery: Late April to Late May
A wallflower to bring you lots of colour from just a few plants. Colourful flowers flourish above evergreen leaves. Traditonal by reputation but also good in modern planting schemes- especially with containers.
Wallflower Erysimum Paintbox works well in containers accompanying tulips and daffodils in spring and summer lilies afterwards. Easy-maintenance, you can place three young plants in a 30cm (12in) container and around nine in a square metre flower bed.
Erysimum Paintbox gives you the perfect flowers from Easter in your garden; bring some inside too to bring natural colour into your house.
Paintbox will thrive in the sun, whether your site is open or sheltered. Water well every day in the morning or evening or both mornings and evenings in dry spells. Watch the scented colourful flowers attract beneficial insects too – sticking around to pollinate tree and soft fruit too.
Perennial plants are the mainstay of the flower garden; many will flower all summer, becoming dormant in autumn to reappear in spring. Perennials tend to be non-fussy plants and are easy to look after - they just need the old stems cutting back in late autumn, which helps to promote new stems and vigorous growth the following spring, getting bigger and better every year!
