Growing Calendar for Damson Merryweather - Tree
Delivery: Early November to Late April
Damson Merryweather is a very popular variety of Damson, it is one of the most widely-planted and most hardy Damson varieties. The fruit is very large in terms of Damson’s and Merryweather is very similar to a small plum.
The fruit of this variety can be eaten fresh if they are left to hang on the tree. Damsons really are unique when it comes to culinary purposes, they can be used a substitutes for plums but they have a very distinctive rich flavour.
This variety is a clingstone fruit, which means the stone in the center is not so easily parted from the flesh.
The fruits are very juicy, blue-black with a wonderful blue bloom. The sweet yellow coloured flesh has a very good and old-fashioned type flavour.
The variety is self-fertile and a very heavy cropper, it bears fruit while still at quite a young age. The fruits are perfect for cooking and eating fresh.

I need to wait bit the top has been cut off and it looks a little frail
Really pleased with the tree the packaging and instructions, it has been planted and seems to be really happy in its new garden
Damson growing away nicely. Previously 6 of 18 raspberry canes did NOT develop. Three gooseberry bushes are thriving. But only 1 of 3 Rhubarb crowns has shown itself. Not percentages to be proud of, I would suggest.
