Growing Calendar for Dahlia Kelvin Floodlight - Tuber
Delivery: Early March to Late May
Named after the British Scientist Lord Kelvin, this vigorous and decorative dahlia will flower all summer long. This new dinner plate variety of dahlia will take centre stage in any garden display this summer. With fully double, primrose yellow flower heads, no other bloom can beat it.
The Kelvin Floodlight will thrive mixed in borders to give a vertical accent to your display or alternatively create beautiful design in pots or containers. Each bulb can produce up to 15 extra-large flowers, meaning you will have plenty left if you decide to cut some for indoor vases, just remember to let them fully bloom first.
Plant 10cm (4in) deep in light, well-drained soil and make sure it is in full or partial sunlight in order to make a statement in any garden. It can reach a mature height of 1m, its green serrated oval-shaped leaves can give it a spread of 50cm (20in) and it is incredibly easy to grow and maintain.
Summer flowering bulbs, corms and tubers are many and varied. They fit in with most mixed planting schemes.
