Very large and beautiful blooms. Size matters when it comes to these beauties! With this collection the decorative dahlias with their huge sized blooms on tall stems it's easy to see why. This certainly is a collection to impress; whether you choose these blooms for spectacular cut flowers or simply to add an extra wow to the border.
The collection includes 1 tubers each of:
Dahlia Hart's Dr McMurray
This particular award winning variety of Dahlia is a beautiful glowing bronzy orange variety, whose tips become lighter towards the edges. Dahlia Hart’s Dr Murray is a new dinner plate variety chosen by our Flower Buyer Nikki. She advises they are a great way to add some height to your garden flower displays and are architecturally aesthetic.
Dahlia Cafe au Lait
A radiant variety with large flowers, up to 25cm across, in colours of gorgeous peachy cream shades. They create spectacular displays in the border and work especially well as a cut flower. ‘Cafe Au Lait’ is a much loved variety of Dahlia and is best planted alongside other plants with subtle coloured flowers. Its flowering period is long, from June through to the first frost, but remember to keep deadheading to encourage more blooms to flower.
Dahlia Kelvin Floodlight
Named after the British Scientist Lord Kelvin, this vigorous and decorative dahlia will flower all summer long. This new dinner plate variety of dahlia will take centre stage in any garden display this summer. With fully double, primrose yellow flower heads, no other bloom can beat it.
Plant 10cm (4in) deep in light, well-drained soil and make sure it is in full or partial sunlight in order to make a statement in any garden. It can reach a mature height of 1m, its green serrated oval-shaped leaves can give it a spread of 50cm (20in) and it is incredibly easy to grow and maintain.
I bought 3 dahlia tubers. To date only one is showing any sign of life.
