Growing Calendar for Crab Apple Jelly King - Apple Tree
Delivery: Early November to Late April
Crab Apple Jelly King is aimed particularly for people who want to use Crab Apples for cooking purposes, such as for jelly.
The beautiful orange-pink fruits make jelly the same colour. Jelly King is more than just a jelly variety, it is in fact a brilliant all-rounder apple.
Then beautiful white flowers are produced in abundance, they provide an intense and very long lasting display in spring. In the autumn the large fruit are also very attractive and they retain on the branches well into December.
Unlike other crab apple varieties, birds do not seem to like these apples so you will be unlikely to lose any to them.
Once you Jelly King Tree is older than a few years it will become a very, very heavy cropper. This means even if you pick a mass for your kitchen there will still be plenty of fruits left to provide plenty of autumn colour to your tree.
Once established the heavy cropping yields are consistent giving you year upon year of masses of juicy large fruits.
Serve this with lamb as a tasty alternative to redcurrant jelly. Forms a compact tree which is covered with white blossom in the spring.
