Growing Calendar for Chaenomeles Pink Lady Flowering Quince - 9cm Potted Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Early September
Treat yourself to flowering quince – Chaenomeles Pink Lady for your garden. Fully hardy in the UK, this well-performing variety with RHS Award of Garden Merit gives you a shrub studded with pink apple-like blossom in early spring just in time for pollinating insects awaking from their winter sleep.
After the generous display of flowers, Chaenomeles Pink Lady reveals fresh glossy leaves and in late summer the blossoms form decorative fruit that gives off a rare and pleasant fragrance. Grow Pink Lady near to a wall and the spreading branches will fill the brickwork with glossy leaves and flowers. Use additional wire supports to train Pink Lady up the wall like a climber.
Avoid growing Pink Lady near an east-facing wall if possible. The melting frost can cause blossoms to turn brown in the early morning sun due to fast-acting thawing. Alternatively protect your shrub with horticultural fleece when frost is predicted.
