Growing Calendar for Buddleja davidii Harlequin - 9cm Potted Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Early September
Enjoy the quality traits of butterfly bush Buddleia davidii Harlequin. The rare and beautiful variegated cream-bordered leaves give this hardy plant its name Harlequin. The flowers and leaves look lovely in vase displays too in the home in mid to late summer.
In spring the long, elegant stems produce attractive two-tone sword-like leaves that augment the eventual flowers in summer. Some of the most dazzling of British butterflies will pay a visit to Buddleia davidii Harlequin, adding welcome movement and important pollinators to your garden or plot.
Grow with nearby dahlias, especially purple varieties to complement the two plants. We find that rowan trees go very well with buddleias, especially when the berries appear.
In early spring cut all stems down to the ground so that your plant grows a fresh set of new, young and vigorous flowering stems that give you flowers from summer. This keeps your shrub in shape and free from plant diseases.
