Growing Calendar for Broad Bean Seeds - Red Epicure
Delivery: 5-7 Working Days
Broad Bean ‘Red Epicure’ is a very special variety of broad bean with beautiful colours. Chestnut crimson beans are contained in contrasting verdant green pods and they retain their vibrant colour even when lightly steamed.
With beautiful colours and and an excellent flavour from meaty beans this well-known variety is a big hit in the home growing community and it’s easy to see why.
Enjoy four to five large beans in every pod from plants that produce multiple pods. Every packet of seeds you receive contains around 50 seeds for a potential 500 pods at least.
Harvests can start as early as June and continue to August while the weather is pleasant and harvesting in the outdoors is a joy. After this we recommend you freeze surpluses for supplies in the autumn and into winter. Red Epicure is great for soups and stews as an alternative to kidney beans.
Sow Indoors: February-April, singly in clean pots or modules of compost 2in (5cm) deep. Water well.
