Looking for something...
- The Dreaded Lily Beetle!
It has to be said that the Lily Beetle is a handsome creature, with its scarlet colouring it must be one of the brightest pests in the garden. But however handsome it is I would rather it stayed well away from my plants!
- My first harvest from the veg plot.
I harvested my first Cabbage Duncan at the weekend along with last of my carrots from the Gro-Bed in the greenhouse and they were both delicious! I needed to get the Gro-Bed out of the greenhouse so I could sort out my tomato plants - there wasn't room in there for both!
- Bees in my Nest Box
While sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee at the weekend my husband noticed some bees buzzing around a nesting box we have on the corner of the pergola. Last year the box it was home to a family of sparrows but on further investigation this year it appears the bees have moved in!
- Thinning Top Fruit
When conditions are good and spring pollinators are numerous most fruit trees will set more fruit than they can really ripen properly so trees will quite naturally abort some of this excess in early summer in what is known as the ‘June Drop'.
- Planting my Tomatoes
I finally got round to planting up the Gro-Sacks with my tomato plants now I've made some space in the greenhouse.
- Peach Leaf Curl
I spotted the dreaded Peach Leaf Curl on my Nectarine last week so quickly nipped off all the affected leaves and destroyed them. When I got back into work I thought maybe I should've taken a picture so I could show what it looks like - but it was too late then!
