Take advantage of the unique upright growth of Purple Opal. This growth habit is advantageous as the fruit appear on top of the canopy for easy harvests. You don't need to scramble in the shrubs to pick these blackberries.
Pick masses of fruit from patio blackberry variety Purple Opal which you can grow whether you have flowerbeds or not. Excellent for picking in the summer holidays with children as the stems are safe and thornless.
Grow in pots, cutting down the fruited stems to ground level when you have harvested. Leave the leafy growth to develop which will produce fruit the following year.
Your plants on arrival
You receive your new plant as small a potted plant with the stem and leaves wrapped in a polythene wrap and a soil ball with an established root network for great growing potential.
Can’t plant right away?
You can keep your plant in its plastic wrap for as long as 3-5 days so long as you make sure the root area is nice and humid and the roots feel moist.
Keep your plants in a light, cool position away from full sun like an unheated porch or greenhouse, or even outdoors on a clear, dry day.
Look to planting your new plant in its permanent position within a week or so.
