The First Choice of Prize Winning Gardeners & Lovers of Real Food
My AccountWhilst there has been lots of speculation about the famous John Innes Centre in Norfolk's development of its GM Tomato which has wonderful health promoting benefits, there are also many non-GM tomatoes, including Tomato Chocolate Cherry, which offer similar benefits.
This new purple tomato, unlike its red cousins, contains high levels of anthocyanins. This naturally occurring chemical found in dark fruit pigments such as blueberries and grapes, acts as an antioxidant. In addition Tomato Chocolate Cherry, like all tomatoes, contains high levels of the antioxidant lycopene.
Tomato Chocolate Cherry makes an ideal salad tomato. It produces extremely flavoursome cherry tomatoes, borne on trusses of 6-8 fruits. Growth habit is indeterminate, otherwise known as a cordon. Chocolate Cherry produces heavy yields some 70 days after planting until the first frosts. Suitable for indoor and outdoors in a sunny frost-free position.

Sweet but still with a little citrus tang. Delicious!
We grow these for the first time in 2010, none of them made it into the house because my sons ate everyone straight from the garden. We will plant twice as many this year to keep up with demand. Fantastic for the kids.
Really enjoyed these last year....... and BBQ guests loved the purple / brown colour with the kids especially enjoying them.
Good tomato flavour with added health benefits!
