Growing Calendar for Sweetcorn 'Mirai 160Y'
Delivery: Early June to Mid June
New to 2016. Super-sweet type crossed with extra-tender type which has strong plants with extra thin skin over the kernels, tender enough to eat raw. You will notice the best flavour when it’s steamed.
James Oakey Head of Horticulture sings its praises;
“I tasted this variety last year at trials and was blown away by its sweetness and tenderness. It’s a super sweet type crossed with extra tender type which has strong plants with extra thin skin over the kernels tender enough to eat raw. You will notice the best flavour when it’s barely cooked.”
Cobs are well filled to the end and are approximately 20cm (8in) long.
Plant in square grids to ensure the best chance of pollination. Do not plant near any other varieties of sweetcorn, to avoid cross pollination which will affect flavour and colour. Alternatively allow at least 14 day harvest interval between different crops.
Harvest approximately 75-80 days after transplanting young plants into soil.
It is an excellent product
Most of the plants were yellowing and were well below the standard expected
growing realy quickly and well
Please unpack the plants as soon as you receive them and sit them in a tray of shallow water if they appear to have dried out in transit.
