Strawberry Plants: Marshmello - Main

The most successful amateur strawberry - what an amazing history.

Marshmello was a real Cinderella in her early days. Every supermarket loved her, but nobody would invite her to the ball.

A Real Pedigree Strawberry - In fact, Dr David Simpson, Research Leader at East Malling Research, England's premier strawberry breeding institute, went so far as to say, "Marshmello has been the most successful of the amateur strawberry varieties that we have bred".

Marshmello is one of several world class strawberries bred at East Malling including Flamenco and Mae which you'll find featured in the Marshalls range.

Marshmello is delicately textured with a superb sugar acid balance, producing a lovely sweetness, yet with just a hint of fruit acid.

No wonder Gourmet Chef Raymond Blanc was heard describing Marshmello as simply "The sweetest strawberry I've ever tasted!"

Robust and vigorous is an underestimation! Planting was delayed by a week and they didn't get cared for as per the instructions. They were quite dry and I thought I may have lost them but decided to plant them anyway. Then we had the warm, dry spell and they didn't get watered. Despite all that neglect, I've now got 12 very healthy-looking plants and each plant is already bearing a cluster of goo... [ more ]

Wonderful plants. They've survived everything our Hebridean weather can throw at them and are still heavy-cropping plants, producing large, tasty, juicy fruits. Can't recommend them highly enough.

marshmallow-what a beauty cannot wait for the 2nd full year, absolutely delicious easy to pick and no snail or slug problems with only a net for protection. Huge plants definitely needs the recommended space

These are truly fab strawberries. Grown in large tubs mounted on a wall and covered with mesh after flowering to deter birds and completely avoid slugs and snails.

Prolific producers, healthy plants and the taste is unbelievable. Fruits were consistant sized and colour. Plentyful harvest and this is just in the first year! Can't wait until next year!

Planted these for the first time this year and simply cannot believe the results. The fruits are large, beautiful and absolutely delicious, it is very hard to get them as far as the house. Don't be put off by their sweetness, they are very sweet but retain the fresh strawberry tang. I used the copper-impregnanted slug fabric with excellent results and grow them in cloches to try and keep them for ... [ more ]

This is my second season with these strawberry plants, they did very well in the first year. But this year the crop is amazing, just picked my second batch of strawberries. One of the best tasting and juicy strawberries that I have eaten.

This is the best tasting strawberry ever. I have some plants in the greenhouse that crop a couple of weeks ahead of the plants outside and so extend the season.
