NEW TO 2016. This popular variety crops twice as heavily as others, producing a generous crop of large green berries. An excellent choice for cooking, freezing and jam as the fruit holds its shape and colour well. Planted in October, your standard-trained plant will reveal lots of fruit at an ideal and comfortable height for picking.
This gooseberry variety arrives to you as a bare-root fully labelled plant with its roots surrounded by a polythene bag and the whole plant despatched to you in a cardboard box.
Bare-root plants are perfect for you to plant in the ground or in containers anytime from autumn to spring.
The head of leaves and stems will burst into leaf and flower from next spring, and a good root network which will establish in the ground over winter.
Water the root area of your bare-root rose on arrival. Try to plant straight away but if this is not possible your standard-trained gooseberry plant will survive up to two or three days with its roots buried in some loose moist soil. Keep out of direct-sun.
Once planted in rich, moist soil provide a thick layer of compost on the surface around the plant which will keep the soil area warm and the roots stimulated for over winter.
As said on previous page.
Impressed with size of bushes
Well grown, sturdy looking standard, have underplanted it with strawberries, looking forward to bumper crops.
