Easy to grow and I've been cropping mine for weeks already. Small leaves perfect in salad, larger ones steamed or tossed in butter and cream to make a great sauce. This crop alone saves me a fortune each year,
Lovely large leaves, can also be sown to over winter.
Sow Outdoors: March-September, thinly, direct into the required harvest position, 1in (2½cm) deep in rows 12in (30cm) apart. Keep soil moist at all times.
Grow On: If necessary thin seedlings to 4in (10cm) apart.
Harvest: April-October pick young leaves to encourage a steady supply.
Use thinnings as baby leaf. Use fleece to protect crop from frost or cold wind.
Standard Seeds E.C Rules and Regulations.
August is primarily about harvesting your crops, but there are still some vegetables that can be sown and planted out!
