Growing Calendar for Seed Potato 'Pink Gypsy'
Delivery: Early January to Late April
Be the envy of the show bench with these attractive potatoes. Early maincrop with great disease resistance. Excellent flavour. 1kg of tubers ready to plant in March.
Harvest these delicious potatoes from September onwards and well into autumn and you’ll have potatoes for the kitchen great for baking, roasting and mashing.
Notice the attractive white and pink skins as you unearth your potatoes. They clean really easily and once cooked have a delightful fluffy texture.
Your potatoes on arrival
Place individual seed potatoes (immature and wrinkled potatoes as they arrive in your pack) in egg-cartons in a light, cool area once you receive them. This keeps the ‘eyes’ of the potatoes short and stubby, perfect for planting in March or when the last of the winter weather passes.
As your plants grow, keep adding soil up the sides to cover a quarter of the main stem (earthing up) so the potatoes underground do not become exposed to light which makes them green and poisonous.
Harvest in autumn as the flowers appear and wilt and stems become yellow.
