Watercress 'Aqua' - watercress you can grow without running water!
Sow seeds direct in a shady place and keep moist. Alternatively Watercress Aqua can be grown in pots placed in a large saucer of water.
Produces a large crop high in calcium and iron with a delicous peppery flavour.
Seeds can be sown from mid-May to September and can be harvested from June to October. Regular picking is essential for continuity.
Peppery Flavours - Easy to Grow
SOW OUTDOORS - May-September thinly ½in (1cm) deep 12in (30cm) apart in harvest location. Sow in a shady moist spot, or in a 12in (30cm) patio pot placed on a larger saucer of water.
THIN OUT - 1in (2.5cm) apart.
TIP - Keep well watered, if growing in a container keep saucer topped up daily. Regular picking is essential for continuity.
I usually plant them in a large bowl and get excellent germination. The water cress itself has a peppery taste and really livens up a salad sandwich!
Once growing this is an excellent plant as long as you keep picking and keep the container in water.
