My AccountRunner Bean St George produces an early, high yield of crisp, juicy pods with good snap.
St George out performed every other bean at RHS Wisley trials and the National Veg Society in 2008 - producing the heaviest crops by a mile.
The ornamental bi-colour flowers are an attractive red and white.

I grew St George for the first this year and they have given us lots of lovely meals. This year has been very dry in my garden but that did not stop them from producing a very heavy and tasty crop. Definitely a "Must" for 2012.
Even during the difficult summer we have just had with extreme heats, winds and heavy rain, these beans survived and out of the three types planted, St George were the only ones that gave a crop. They are very tasty, stringless and freeze well - my vote goes to them every time. Behind them came White Lady with the other type a non starter.
Very heavy Cropper!
Sow Indoors: April-May, singly in clean pots or module trays of compost 2in (5cm) deep. Water well and keep warm.
Sow Outdoors: May-June, direct into the required harvest position 2 seeds, 2in (5cm) deep, 8in (20cm) apart. Keep soil moist at all times.
Plant Out: Indoor raised crops May-June 8in (20cm) apart after the risk of frost has passed.
Harvest: July-October
Runner beans require trellis or a 'wig wam' of canes to climb through. Pick beans young for best flavour.
