I am just ordering these for the 3rd year, they are very reliable and taste great. I have been harvesting them since early May. Last years stored well I just did not grow enough.
I've grown Red Cross for the last 2 winters and will be growing them again this winter. Excellent success rate, very low incidence of bolting, and the only ones of my over-wintered sets to survive last year's severe winter. Excellent flavour, reasonable keeping qualities for an over-wintered onion.
We haven't grown autumn sown onions before. These overwintered well, despite lots of snow and have given a good crop of disease free, well flavoured onions. Our spring planted onions have now suffer from downy mildew, these missed that. I have just ordered more for this year.
