Growing Calendar for Radish Seeds - Diana
Delivery: Early May to Late August
A first in this colour break for rounded radishes that form perfect spheres.
Easy to grow, enjoy the beautiful two-toned roots from spring to autumn. Peppery and perfect for salads.
An excellent crop to try both in the direct soil or containers, it’s a great crop for when you need to save space.
One of Diana’s best features is its intercropping potential- known as a ‘cash crop’. If you’re growing peas or potatoes, sow Diana in the same spot. You’ll get a harvest or two of radishes while peas and potatoes are taking their time growing. With radish in place, you’ll be suppressing weeds in that area too.
Sow Outdoors - March to September, thinly 0.5in (1cm) deep in rows 6in (15cm) apart, direct in harvest position. Keep soil moist at all times until seedlings are established as dry conditions impair germination.
Thin Out - 2in (5cm) apart.
Tip - Sow little and often for continuous supply. Water plants generously in dry weather to prevent roots becoming woody and peppery. Pick roots whilst small and young.
Radishes are great- the whole plants are edible and they are easy to grow. The roots are fantastic in salads; harvested at the right time they are refreshing and tangy.
