Growing Calendar for Pea Seeds - Alderman
Delivery: Late July to Late September
A tall variety giving bumper crops of really tasty peas over a long period.
Pods are of excellent quality making it a good variety for the showbench too.
Main Crop, tall tasty variety also good for showing.
Height: 72in (180cm)
Sow Outdoors: April-July in a flat bottomed trench 2in (5cm) deep, 8in (20cm) wide. Water the trench and sow seeds 3in (7.5cm) apart. Carefully back fill the trench and firm lightly. Keep soil moist at all times.
Grow On: Support plants as they grow with netting or canes.
Sow every 4 weeks in order to maintain a steady supply of peas.

If peas scare you or you only have a small space grow these up canes/wigwams and enjoy. My tip for starters is to germinate them on damp kitchen roll ( a bit like children do with runnerbeans) then pot them into compost before popping outside. This helps to avoid the mice stealing your planted seeds.
