Growing Calendar for Parthenocissus tri. 'Veitchii' Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Late October
Parthenocissus tri. ‘Veitchii’ is one of the most spectacular climbing plants. It’s grown primarily for the glossy, bright green, deeply toothed, three-lobed leaves which turns vibrant shades of red-purple in autumn which more than make up for its deciduous habit. Once mature Parthenocissus will provide habitats for wildlife including insects and garden birds. One of the best and easiest climbers to grow but make sure you give it plenty of space and regular pruning as it can get out of hand, however when maintained it produces a really grand plant which can dramatically transform a partially shaded north or east facing wall.
Shrubs offer visual interest all year round – whether in full leaf, full bloom or with bare stems set against the winter sky.
If you want to add height to your garden and increase the vertical interest consider planting a tree in your garden. There are trees particularly suited for gardens which don’t grow out of proportion to your property or develop too thick a canopy that blocks out sunlight.
