Easy to grow, quick to mature, good taste. I recommend them as the best spring onions to grow.
I've been growing these for the past 3 summers. White Lisbon's are definitely versatile... lovely in salads when they are still young and tender, and beautifully crunchy and mild if you leave them longer. I tend to grow these in two batches in the garden, leaving one of the batches [surrounding the carrots] to grow from April to September... these are absolutely succulent, and make the most beautiful cheese/onion/tomato sandwiches. The second batch, which is allowed to grow for approx. 4 weeks is pulled and used young in salads. This second batch is constantly on rotation in my garden. These White Lisbons grow really easily... hassle free... in whatever container you choose. As stated above, I grow one batch around the carrots to give the carrot flies a run for their money, and another batch is grown in its own box. I've grown these in the greenhouse in the past, but they don't seem to like being enclosed. A real winner.
succulent to taste
