Vine Weevil have become more prevalent in recent years and can devastate expensive container plants.
Vine Weevil Larvae are the real problem, attacking plant root systems from late summer until the following spring. The larvae over-winter - attack the roots - then emerge as adults in late spring / summer. Adults lay eggs in the root-balls of plants - which then hatch and feed before repeating the whole process again.
By using Nemasys twice a year - in the spring and again in autumn (to control larvae resulting from eggs laid in the summer) you can maintain healthy plants free from the damaging larvae.
The 12m2 pack is sufficient for up to 50 containers.
Please note: The ground temperature needs to be above 5 degrees for the predatory nematodes to be active.
When you receive your pack of Nemasys, place it in the refrigerator immediately and use within the use by date (which can be up to four weeks).
This product might have been slightly easier to use if I knew where to obtain a large rose for my watering can. (Marshalls, are you able to supply them?) Once applied, after much watering, I have been delighted with the results. Plants which were previously notched and sickly have since flourished. I will have to ensure I do not forget their autumn application!
Our garden, pots and tubs were absolutely devastated by vine weevil in 2007 and 2008. We found them crawling everywhere even in daytime. A fortune was spent on chemical pesticides - a waste of time and money! In Aug 2008, Nemasys was applied to everything and repeated in April 2009. RESULT: not a vine weevil in sight and absolutely NO DAMAGE. Wonderful, we will apply again this September.
i did see results after using this last autumn - a few shrubs which were nearly bare managed to recover a bit and produce new foliage - only drawback is cost and having to repeat a couple of times a year
