Grew easily in a polytunnel. Had to fertilise the flowers by hand. 3 plants produced 7 fruits.

Charentais with fragrant orange flesh.

Sow Indoors: April-May 1in (2cm) deep in individual 3.5in (9cm)pots of pre watered compost. Place in a propagator at 20-25°C (68-77°F) Keep soil moist at all times.

Grow On: When first true leaves have opened remove from propagator and grow on at 18-20°C (64-68°F)

Plant Out: June plant into 12in (30cm) pots in an unheated frost free glass house.

Train plants up canes, strings or wires. Pinch off above 2nd leaf, stop each lateral after 3rd leaf, stop again 2 leaves after a fruit. Keep well watered. Feed regularly. Do not remove male flowers.

Harvest: August-September

Liquid feed with high potash feed
