The First Choice of Prize Winning Gardeners & Lovers of Real Food
My AccountThe fruit of ‘Royal' are a bit smaller than those of the more widely known ‘Nottingham'.
We believe they have a better flavour, so much so that you can seriously consider eating them freshly picked in October rather than having to ‘blet' them for a few weeks. (‘Bletting' is the name given to the process of storing Medlar fruits to soften before they develop their true, truffle-like flavour).
The tree will make a good lawn feature, carrying huge glossy leaves and attractive large, pure white flowers on a flat topped, spreading semi-weeping habit.
Self fertile.
