Marshalls 2009 Salad Specials

Wednesday 25th February 2009

Supermarkets pillow-packed salads cost a packet and turn to slime as soon as they’re opened. This year save money and enjoy the taste-packed flavours of Marshalls salad collection, including a crunchy iceberg lettuce, tangy rocket, peppery radish and spicy coriander.

Voyager Wild Rocket
A tangy variety of wild rocket, which is more vigorous, uniform and upright than other varieties. Marshalls oak-leaved Voyager is slow to bolt with thicker and darker green leaves. Its flavour is best described as ‘sweet with a punch! (One packet £1.25).

Lettuce Match
Fed up with limp, tasteless pillow-packed supermarket salads? It's time to get back to the crunchy bite of this iceberg with its crunchy head and a very sweet flavour. The lettuce match is very tolerant of hot weather making it slow to bolt. It is also very mildew resistant. (One packet £1.75).

Radish Amethyst
One of the most peppery and striking additions you can make to a salad bowl. The amethyst radish has a deep strong, almost metallic purple, colour with a crisp white flesh contrasting with the deep red. Sow radishes in succession to make sure you never run out this summer. (One packet £1.75).

Coriander Confetti
A striking-looking new herb, which will spice up anything from salads to curries. Confetti will thrive in the garden but is equally good in outdoor pots or on a sunny windowsill. The Confetti produces sweet, compact leaves with a mild flavour. It is also slow to bolt. (One packet £1.25).
