This is a good buy. Just watch out for slugs--they enjoy eating the seedlings just as much as we enjoy eating the leaves that make it to maturity!

These were sown in a cold greenhouse from March to September at 4 weekly intervals. Germination was 100% and during the midsummer months took only a couple of days to pop through. On reaching maturity, at about 4 weeks, they were placed outside, about 9 to a large container. The more I cut, the more they grew. Not only did they provide a deliciously different and colourful addition to our table everday, they were so abundant that we were able to provide our neighbours with fresh leaves on a regular basis. They were not troubled by slugs (possibly the mildly peppery aroma) and did not bolt. Needless to say what I''m having in my sandwiches for lunch today.

this is a great variety. Last year, the lettuces I planted in March made beautiful large frothy open heads and gave us leaves all season. I seeded some late last autumn and the seedlings have survived - outside! in the snow and ice this winter! I did the same thing the season before that and we had big filly red and grren heads by May! The colour mix in the salad bowl looks beautiful. If you want one variety for a multicolour sala, this is the one!
