Growing Calendar for Lavatera Barnsley Baby 3L Potted Shrub
Delivery: Early July to Early November
Plant mallow Lavatera Barnsley Baby in your outdoor plot or in containers and watch the stems produce large open flowers that last right through the summer.
The open flowers attract pollinators into your garden like bees which hang around pollinating flowers of top fruit like apples and pears as well as fruiting salad crops like tomatoes and aubergines.
Grow your Barnsley Baby plants in several pots for a more dramatic display and enjoy this flower that comes back year after year. We recommend you plant 1 3 litre pot of Lavatera Barnsley Baby for every 12in (30cm) container. If growing directly in soil, space plants 16in (40cm) apart. Water each day, twice- in particularly warm weather in summer and feed your plants with a balanced fertiliser like Westland Fish, Blood and Bone throughout the flowering season.
How you receive your plant
As a potted plant perfect for planting from spring
You receive your Lavatera Barnsley Baby as a young specimen; this means you’re getting them just before they experience a real growth spurt (a bit like teenagers), growing strongly and sturdily, and primed to produce lots of lovely flowers and leaves for you.
They arrive as a main stem studded with buds with lots of growing potential in spring. Attached is a strong network of roots that will develop once planted in soil.
Can’t plant straight away?
If you can't plant up your fruit tree straight away keep your potted plant in a sunny position and keep the soil moist by watering each day.
Look to planting into its permanent position within 5-7 days
Shrubs offer visual interest all year round – whether in full leaf, full bloom or with bare stems set against the winter sky.
If you want to add height to your garden and increase the vertical interest consider planting a tree in your garden. There are trees particularly suited for gardens which don’t grow out of proportion to your property or develop too thick a canopy that blocks out sunlight.
