The First Choice of Prize Winning Gardeners & Lovers of Real Food
My AccountKestrel is a smooth skinned with purple eyes, and winner of many prizes at exhibition.
Kestrel has an old fashioned flavour, it makes good chips and roasts well because the soft flesh does not absorb much fat.
Consistently shows good resistance to slugs and blackleg. Many Second Earlies are delicious as new potatoes - lift some a little sooner if your First Earlies have run out.
Second early for July lifting.

Hi,just a quick note to verify how good the kestrel seed potatoe really is,i have grown these for a number of years (supplied by marshalls) and have no complaints at all, good yields, excellent slug and eel worm resistance and the quality second to none. My last crops were excellent and i did a little experiment of my own, i kept a few of my seeds back and planted a bit later than normal and the results were just as good as ever,so i extended my growing period and had a longer cropping time.Easy to grow and they do (what it says on the tin)
I was very disappointed with the 'Kestral' seed potatoes sent this year. They were large, some 31/2 inches long resulting in only 17 tubers in 2kg. Of these 2 did not chit and 3 looked pretty poor when I planted them. This is not up to the standard of previous years supply The 'Accent' seed was much better mostly large egg sized resulting in 35 tubers in 2kg and all chitted well
My neighbour, Gordon, relies on Kestrel because it will roast and fry and, unlike a maincrop, can be lifted in July to avoid potato blight, which affects us here in the South West. Can be grown successfully in tubs or in open ground. It's a very well-mannered potato!
