Growing Calendar for Escallonia Apple Blossom- 3Ltr Shrub
Delivery: Early March to Early November
Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ produces a profusion of candy pink, tube-like flowers, throughout summer from June to September. These attractive flowers nestle neatly among tiny, glossy, deep green leaves which together form a dense, bushy, evergreen shrub. Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ should ideally be positioned at the back of a where its beautiful lush foliage acts as a canvas for other shrubs and perennials. It can also be planted as an informal hedge and is well suited for coastal environments where it can serve as a wind break. Wherever planted, give Escallonia ‘Apple Blossom’ a sunny spot and it’ll reward you with a fine display all year round. Award the RHS AGM and Perfect for pollinators.
Dig a hole large and deep enough to take the plant’s root ball.
Gently tap the plant out of its pot without disturbing the soil around the roots.
Position the plant at the bottom of the hole so the plant’s crown is level with the surface and sits at the same depth as it was in the pot; make sure the roots are in direct contact with the soil.
Backfill with the excavated soil and firm in gently. Water to settle the soil around the roots.
Shrubs are easy-care plants getting better every year with the minimum of fuss.
Deadhead spent blooms of Escallonia regularly to keep the plants flowering. Mulch plants in spring.
Watering: Water regularly in the first few weeks after planting and then make sure the plants are kept moist in dry spell; but don’t overwater .Plants will send their roots down in search of moisture as they grow.
Feeding: Give shrubs a boost with a handful of granular feed hoed into the soil in spring.
Pruning: most evergreens need minimum pruning. Prune Escallonia in spring if necessary to maintain the plant’s shape.

Shrubs offer visual interest all year round – whether in full leaf, full bloom or with bare stems set against the winter sky.
If you want to add height to your garden and increase the vertical interest consider planting a tree in your garden. There are trees particularly suited for gardens which don’t grow out of proportion to your property or develop too thick a canopy that blocks out sunlight.
