Growing Calendar for Chilli Pepper Plants - Firebell
Delivery: Late April to Early May
A small sweet, bell pepper with a nice delicate chilli heat. Give your salads, stuffed peppers and casseroles a warm heat without blowing your head off! Grows to 4ft (1.2m) in a large container. Growing in a smaller container will restrict the plant size to suit.
Choose a sunny windowsill or greenhouse and watch these pepper plants give you vibrant lovely fruits to pick for salads and sauces. With a little heat, you’ll appreciate a tang and get the mood-enhancing elements from a chilli-pepper but without blowing your head off.
We recommend that you grow one plant to an 8-12in (20-30cm) diameter pot. Keep the soil of the pot moist at all times but never waterlogged and keep plants on a sunny windowsill indoors. As the pepper plant grows, add a bamboo cane or similar support add tie growing stems loosely to the canes with string.
How your plants arrive
You receive 3 young plants in one pack. Each of your plants arrive to you as young plants containing a ‘plug’ of soil with roots running through them and some small green stems and leaves.
Although they are little they are the perfect size to get growing fast once you plant them up.
Your plants will arrive to you in a sealed plastic wallet or container contained in a bubble-lined envelope or a box for larger orders. The sealed container allows your young plants to stay healthy by giving them an ideal air and root environment when it arrives to you.
Check your 3 plants are there in the plastic container, according to your order.
Can’t plant straight away?
If you cannot plant up your pepper plants straight away into their permanent position make sure the plugs of your plants are kept moist at all times.
You can place your plants on a saucer or tray of water so the plugs are immersed at the beginning of the day. Keep an eye on them and take them out of the water once the soil is moist from absorbing the water beneath.
Keep your plants in a well-ventilated and light position in their plastic wallet after giving them water. Look to planting in their permanent position within 5-7 days.
Please unpack the plants as soon as you receive them and sit them in a tray of shallow water if they appear to have dried out in transit.
