My AccountThis high quality broccoli will begin to crop in September but is at its very best from November to February.
Good sized, tender spears are produced on large framed plants.
Growing Broccoli is Simple - Sow the seed thinly in drills and cover them over with soil, lightly firming with the head of the rake. Mark the row, labelling one end with the variety and sowing date. Keep the seed bed moist. Seedlings are ready to plant out when they are about 4in/10cm to 6in/15cm tall. Water the planting hole before firmly transplanting to their permanent position, 1in/2-5cm deeper than in the seedbed and 18in/45cm apart.

Though these were easy to grow I was disappointed with the harvest. If it wasnt for fact i had grown 12 of these I wouldnt have got much from them. Though the picking period was about 8 weeks. I did find any broccoli sprouts that werent picked quick soon went to flower which my netting sure didnt like.
The actual spears weren't too large but the plants were so huge (about 4' tall and 2' wide at the top) that we were pulling masses of spears for at least two months. they take up a lot of space for a long time, which sometimes seems like a waste but the cropping season went on for so long and the crop was so tasty that it was well worth it and I already have next year's in place.
These are the worst mistake I have made in my allotmenting career so far. The early crop was small and tasteless, and the late crop was nowhere near as good as the bordeaux. I wouldn't buy them again.
