Growing Calendar for Broad Bean Seeds - The Sutton
Delivery: 5-7 Working Days
‘The Sutton’ is the perfect broad bean for small or exposed gardens. The bushy compact plants only grow 15-18in/35-45cm tall, producing an abundance of delicious, tender broad beans. The beans themselves are a creamy green colour, paler then many other varieties
‘The Sutton’ seeds can be sown under cloches as early as February to produce really early crops. An RHS AGM variety.
Compact variety with consistent yields of white beans.
Sow Indoors: February-March singly in clean pots or modules of compost 2in (5cm) deep. Water well.
Sow Outdoors: March-April and October-November direct into the required harvest position, 2in (5cm) deep, 8in (20cm). Leave 18in (46cm) between each row. Keep soil moist at all times.
Plant Out: Indoor raised crops in April 8in (20cm) apart. Leave 18in (46cm) between each row.
Pick young for best flavour.

My favourite type of broad bean and one I have been growing for many, many years. Perfect in smaller gardens or for raised beds with excellent yields and if sowing is staggered will supply me for three months. Beans smaller but very tender. Delicious.
